Hi

I have just installed my adsl/router modem (Linksys WAG54X2) and I've wired it to my PC to it to connect to the internet.

My problem is trying to get my wife's PC to connect to the modem wirelessly. It's her work laptop and she says that it has to go through VPN Client software. At the moment the VPN is trying to dial via a landline.

Does anyone know how to configure this software so that it uses the wireless connection.

Thanks
S

ps the laptop is detecting the router.

In IE go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections and make sure 'Never Dial a connection is TICKED. :)

If that doesnt work, then the option will be enbeded in the VPN Client. ie, the way it was orginally setup.

Hope this helps. :)

Depends how her VPN works. If it's not an IPSEC VPN then it works on a secure dial in to a specific phone number. So it will need a phone line whatever.

The GX series all support VPN passthrough so it's not your router. It's either the VPN technology or the VPN software and/or doesn't like wireless adapters.

The IPSEC VPN could be fronted with a global "dialer". The most recent one I saw had a choce of connecting via a Modem or Broadband. If Modem was selected, you could pick a local POP and dial. Under broadband, it would assume you already had IP connectivity to the Internet and just fire up the Nortel VPN client.
