wireless mobile phone alert device thingy

i remember seeing a while ago a device (possibly in a pen) which flashed when a mobile phone went off close to it. anyone know if these have a proper name and if you can buy them in any particular shops (not online)?

if anyone's interested it's gonna be for a jokey xmas present, my sister never replies to txts so i'm gonna try and cannibalise it and wire it up to the loudest buzzer i can find. and yes i know i've left it very late, i'm a procrastinator.

theres lots of keyrings like that in japan ... they even give them out with stuff...

i dont know what they are called but. the battery had to be replaced frequently. and they were expensive batteries.

ooh thanks, no that looks good. size isn't really an issue as it would be to stay in her room so doesn't need to be portable. site looks intersting too have to have a proper look.

I bought one of those for presents, and one for myself (the sheep

). You can easy removing the flashing LED circuitry, and it's only a small circuit board, button size battery, and a small wire on the circuit acting as an antenna. :cool:

Even though it's the same product, its very useful to know forbidden planet do them - theres one close to me, so thanks for that! The giraffe thing might be good too, don't think she likes dr who so would have to change the casing of the tardis one, thanks for the technical info too!

my keyboard does that, flashes when the mobile rings.

Please provide pictures of your sister...... if she is deemed suitable, I would be willing to scream at the top of my voice every time a text is received for the sum of $1
