Hi all

As above, I have a weird problem with my WiFi adapters. It's slightly anal (OK, maybe more than slightly), but I don't want random #2s or #3s after my network adapter names or network connection names.

Anyone know how I can remove the superfluous numbers from this:

and this:

I've looked around about how to do this and most suggest uninstalling everything then reinstalling it. I've tried this but Windows applies a wireless network name on reboot, meaning that when I install my proper WiFi drivers it seems to stick a #2 or #3 on the end and I cannot rename it.

It's bugging me. No biggy, but I'd like to know how to change it, if anyone's got any ideas?

Just deleting the current devices wont be enough the reset the numbering.

Try Googling 'set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1' for articles that should point you in the right direction.

I hadn't, but I have now, and I have four entries:

20 - Remote NDIS based internet sharing device
21 - TP-LINK 300Mbps Wireless N Adapter
24 - Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (onboard LAN)
8 - TP-LINK 300Mbps Wireless N Adapter (again for some reason)

What do I do now? Delete one of the TP-LINK entries? If so, which one?
