Hi, brought a new notebook, Samsung R580 with wireless N

Using Buffalo Nfiniti Wireless-N High Power Gigabit Cable Router / Access Point WZR-HP-G300NH

Connected to wireless network, all working fine and very fast but status is only showing at 150mbps

I have a Acer Timeline which has wireless N which shows a connection of 300mbps

I know that you often don't get what you see but just wondering why the Samsung is half that of the Timeline when they are both wireless N ?

Wireless Device properties on the half-n card and enable full N mode?

I assume you're broadcasting using WPA2 with AES too?

Turn on only WPA2 with AES encryption, don't bother using WPA and WPA2 mixed mode unless you have something that won't work with WPA2 (unlikely).

Just changed those setting but still @ 150mbps, not sure is every device supports WPA2 and AES though, but for now would be ok.

In device manager it's just an option to change the wireless mode, usually.

Tried alternative drivers if available?

It may well be the chipset on the card doesn't play well at full N with the chipset on the router - is known to happen between brands.

Driver i have is off Realtek site as the one from the Samsung site does not work. The driver i was using is from November 2009. I've just updated the driver from the windows update site which is listed at February 2010 ( not something I usually trust - windows update)

Wireless still at 150mbps !
