Um if you want, go to ******s (email me, forgot its a competitor ) and buy a USB competitor brand brand wifi dongle. It has rtl8187 driver and should get recognised by the kernel from being plugged in. Its £15, Got it this morning but have yet to test it with encrypted networks, but then you would need to use the same methods with other cards anyway.
Oh it is a little bit chubby, like 2 usb keys together. But I did a local scan at work, and it found all the networks I needed.
Oh read you wanted n, looked on the box, they say only g... oh well ignore then
I know it's not USB but this PCI Edimax EW-7728IN works out of the box (surprisingly I can't say the same for it working with windows 7!!)
So if you could find a usb with the same/similar chipset I would assume that it would have a good chance of working too. (It's a Ralink RT2860 chipset and Ralink does support linux for these chipsets http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=2)
