Hey all

as title suggests really
whenever i use bit-torrent my wireless connection goes down and i have to restart my computer to get it working again.
Its very strange, any ideas?
thanks,

Chris

Your Access point/routers radio goes into what we call in the trade "stupid mode" where the device gets overloaded and it refuses to refresh connections untill something gives, either rebooting the router or PC.

It's probably that the large number of connections to the router through bit-torrent are causing it to crash.

thanx for quick reply :)
is there anyway i can solve this problem?

and it doesnt crash as such, it still says its still connected but internet doesnt work at all, its strange.

Should be a setting in your client for BT to set max connections. 255 or less should fix it.

cheers for reply to.
im using u-torrent and its set to 200 maximum global connections.
ive changed it to 200.
But it might have been crashing becasue ive been trying to download to many torrents at once. (about 7).
thanks again

that 200 is probably per torrent then. You may need to adjust that according to how many torrents your dealing with. I'd google your router and find out how many connections it can do and then do a bit of "poke it and see" diagnostics.

"poke it and see" meaning increase the connections towards your router's maxmum for say 5 open torrents and keep going till it crashes. then knock it back a bit and leave it.

cheers mate, ill start searching in a minute

i just tried limiting the connections amount to 50 and it still screwed up :(
maybe the router is borked lol?

WEll it might still be holding connections... Reboot the router and then reconnect and run a torrent at 50 connections. It should easily deal with that i would think.
