Hi I am after a wireless network card for my desktop. A few questions :)

Are PCI-E card quicker than PCI cards?

Are those that have an aerial on a lead better for long ranges?

Whats an amazing card for me to go for that isnt mentally expensive? There is some dual band cisco thingy. I think I have a N router too.

I have some homeplugs but they have gone mental since we had some electrical work done :(

Cheers,

Leon

Now days prices mean nothing. Check out the spec. IF the card is wireless N then it has a transmit speed of upto 300Mb/s (G - 54 and b = 11). I bought a USB Belkin wireless N and i got great signal at long ranges, Having a short stubby arial is obviously not as good as having a larger Hi Gain Arial. As for the dual band thing it depends on what router you have... Here is a card i recently bought for a friend...

Amazing card, works like a charm, remember wireless bandwidth decreases depending on how many people are wirelessly connected as the bandwidth is shared between them and that with wireless the host has to wait its turn to transmit as opposed to wired. PCI and PCI-E is something which is better left untouched. PCI-E Is quicker but you may not notice the difference if your not maxing out your wireless connection.

The way that i decide on a product is by reviews and brand, you can always trust cisco to get you through!

Sigh, competitor links not allowed.

PCI-E and PCi cards really won't need the bandwidth supplied by either interface so whatever you have room for or liek really.
