Hi, been trying to install wireless for 3 days now and it is beggining to get me down :(

I have the Netgear 311T card + the WG624 router. I got the router installed OK and set up WPA-PSK.

I had problems with the Netgear card software, so had no option other than to use the windows zero config utility. This seemed to work OK because I get the wireless network up and running.

But ... I can't connect to IE via wireless. I can connect fine by just plugging the NTL modem into my box, just not via wireless. :(

I've disabled the windows firewall (no software firewall installed).

This is driving me crazy ... can anyone help?

How do you mean you "can't connect to IE"?
Can you see the router's web interface? Is the machine even getting assigned an IP by the router?

OK, I mean that the wireless network is established and reported at 108mbps ... but clicking on Internet Explorer (what I meant by "IE") fails to connect to any webpages in the same way as it would if no connection existed at all.

Can you run me through the IP assignment checking part please? I tried typing ipconfig and ipconfig /all but the dos window just flashed up for a fraction of a second and then disapeared :(

As I say, I've disabled all elements on windows firewall, checked the WPA passphrase is correct. I'm stumped.

OK thanks tolien. I'll give it a try when I get home in about 6 hours and report back what I get.

Freakish, I'll give it a try with no encryption too, but if it is not going to work with encryption then I'll have to send the hardware back to OC, there's no way I'm putting up with an unsecured network
