Hi there,

I have this NETGEAR wireless network router: Click Here

I have the problem that all the network adapters loose a connection with the router after around 30 mins of use.

This is really annoying and I don't know why it happens.

The network adapter I am using on this computer at the moment is: WG111T

This is around 10 meters at the very maximum (probably around 7 meters) from the router and it still gets disconnected from the router quite a lot.

Why does this happen, and how can i prevent it?

Thanks...

It happens because the GT is a piece of junk - I binned several of them at work not too long ago because the wireless side of things was totally hopeless.

Have you tried firmware/driver updates and moving closer to the router? Can you borrow another card from someone to establish if it is the router or the card that is screwing about?

Its the router as I have around 4 different cards in the different machines and they all get disconnected a lot.

Although I do i have a wireless laptop and that never seems to get disconnected and thats often further away.

Is the laptop using one of those '108Mbit' wireless cards? You could try dropping the speed down in the router web management to 802.11G speeds to see if that helps.

No the network adpater I am using at the moment is the Super G 108Mbps

The one on the laptop is 54Mbps.

So I will try upgrading the firmware and changing the settings later.

Could it be to do with the fact that I am not using the Netgear software on the client pc, I am using the windows wireless utility?

SideNote: Thanks for the title edit Mod.

It shouldn't make much difference and if anything I find the Windows Zero Config tool to be more reliable. Gotta be worth trying the Netcrud software out though.
