Hi all,

I've moved round to the gf's house now but router ports are all taken up and no room at the inn to use wired connections.

1) Try and use my old router as a switch (no idea how though) DG834N

2) Buy http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-001-TP&tool=3 TP-Link 300Mbps

But I've never used wireless for gaming etc does it preform better than wired these days? & also i'm on the same level as the router so should see full signal
1 door away

gf's router is a DGN2000 which i know is quite poor.

Hhmz :P cheers for that..lol

By gaming i mean lotro , TF2 etc. I know its all about latency (ping) etc

So my best bet is a switch then? or try and make my old router a switch if i can

^ Already have a cable connected to the gf's computer but as i want to move mine next to it somehow Ethernet cables are lacking & ports are full on router.
I was going to use my old router as a switch and just use that.

Well the wireless is 300mbps http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-001-TP

and im 17ft away from the router.

But the homeplug looks the way forward i feel but have no idea how to test if the electric is pure?!

Other than that the £8 switch seems good :P

Thanks all :)

Going to try and use the router as a switch first & i did want to try and use the router as a wireless repeater too. But have no idea if that will work or how to do it :P

Morning all,

My previous predicament has been solved :P - just getting a switch.

So now..

i shall be setting up a wireless bridge but i've never done this before.

DGN2000 (main internet connection) i've set WDS to multipoint so that the DGN2000 is the master and then added my DG834N as a peon to repeat from.

Q. Do i need to have the same internet settings on the DG834N? Login etc?

Well i can't seem to get this to work at all.

I've done what Zarf said but every time i go to change the router IP 192.168.0.(number) the router crashes and i have to manufacture reset :/
At one point i had the router at 192.168.0.99 but it then wouldn't let me login

& i disabled the dhcp

and set the pool as Zarf said.
