Getting really frustrated now!!

I have 2 computers, 1 laptop and 1 desktop, that connect wireless to a 3com router.

The laptop is an acer with a in built WLAN card and the desktop is custom built with a netgear USB adapter.

Everything was working fine last week and then the laptop stopped connecting.

The desktop is connected now (typing out this message on it)

The laptop can detect other wireless networks in the street etc just not mine.

The only thing I can think of that Ive changed or installed etc was when the new service pack 3 update flashed up and I clicked to update and it dissapeared not to be seen again.

Everything else is working fine and I can even connect to the router via the laptop with a cable.

Any ideas or anything I can try?

Thanks, Mark

Hi.

SSID broadcasts as default, something I was going to switch off but never got round to so that shouldnt be a problem.

The settings are exactly the same as far as I can tell but will go through it again with a fine tooth comb tonight!!

Its doing my head in though I know that!!

Think I might just hard wire in some sockets all over the house :p

Ive deleted the saved preferred network, restart and rescanned for available networks but mine isnt there!!

I can see others in the street but just not mine.

I really dont see what the problem can be if;

a) other computers can connect to my router, and

b) my laptop can see other networks which would rule out a faulty or not working wireless network card?

Well I borrowed my mates spare wireless router and set it up with my passwords etc and it worked so the issue is between the laptop and the router.

Think the only thing I can try is to reset the router and re set up everything?

Oh, and I tried the usb adapter and it still wouldnt work!!
