Wireless network problem

Hi folks, my problem is this...

A friend of mine has moved to a different country with a laptop and a wifi card in search of an internet connection. She's found a house to stay in, and they have an internet connection with wifi...

Ok, so her computer can connect to the wifi point (and has good signal) but she can't get her internet to work. She's also quite computer illiterate.

Could anyone list some of the problems that could be causing the lack of internet connection. Thanks

Anyone???

The wireless connection says it's connected and with good strength, but the network connection (to the internet) says there's "limited or no connectivity"

not sure what that means but...it's a dlink usb wifi device, she's installed the software including a long key she had to type in, so I guess this could be the encryption. (the usb wifi thing came with the hub as a package so there's no question about compatibility)
