hi guys looking for a freeware or shareware proggy to protect my wireless network. it needs to how the ablilty to prevent others using the network e.g passers by or would be hackers etc.

2 pc's with belkin wireless usb sticks, a pc that is wired to router and a lappy with built in wifi...im struggling to get windows to apply a password and encrypt the data over the network, so i was going to use a 3rd party program instead

i know and i has these options but i can adjust individual pc's settings to those i want e.g use WPA etc but the router doesnt like it because once those settings are applied the pc's cannot get a connection.

i have zonealarm but not the pro suite version with wi-fi defence. im actually looking at a proggy called Wi-Fi Defence. heard of it??

I'm trying to understand your setup  You see on mine, 3 PCs: 1 wired (Ethernet), other 2 connected wirelessly to the wireless router. The router handles all the traffic, i.e. internet & file sharing. I think this is called Infrastructure mode  So if I enable WEP/etc on the router, in each machine (except the wired one) I have to provide the key in Windows when connecting.

see mine is very similar, except 3 pcs on wireless. this is really confusing as the majority of options are either greyed out or when i change them none of the pc's can connect. i will try looking for a 3rd party proggy, or try and create a new network
