Just installed a fresh copy of windows XP on my mates pc, installed the USB network atapter for the wireless network etc. It picks up the signal but when it connects its just keeps saying "Aquiring Network Address" on the icon in the task bar. Any ideas?

well thanks for the suggestion, unfortunaly im a bit of a "noob" and to be honest havnet really got a clue what all that means. So if you dont mind, could you possibly explain in a bit more detail? Many thanks.

When assigning the IP, what would i put in Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS Server etc? Or would i leave the rest blank apart from the IP?

OK, thanks for the replys, im going round his later so hopefully i will post another reply from his pc giving the thumbs up! Cheers lads.

Ok, im posting this on my laptop at the mo. The router ip is 192.168.2.1 so would i set it up as this?

IP: 192.162.2.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
DNS: 192.168.2.1

Is that right?

Well I think it is connecting to the network (it says it is :s) but it wont connect to the net. Just says "Finding site www.....blah)

Argh, any other ideas? Ive disabled the DHCP but still no joy.
