Wireless network speed question

My setup is this

Internet [Ethernet]> Desktop [Wireless]> Laptop

It takes around 3 minutes to transfer a 3mb bitmap image from the desktop to the laptop. Surely all wireless networks arnt this slow? Am I doing something wrong or have I not got it setup correctly?

acctually doesnt matter, I dug out an old network cable, now when im in my room i have it networked via a cable, and anywhere else its via wireless.

Why didnt I thinkof this before!

lol. but 3mns really takes the **** when it should take around 1-2 seconds.
