Hi

I have this router
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-086-NG

On my laptop I have this card
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-088-NG

I bought it as a package so thought it would work ok, however whenever the laptop tries to connect to the router (it picks up a signal strength of about 70%) the signal just drops and the laptop picks up 1MB/S (when it first tries to connect it is at 270MB/S however when windows does the egtting ip address thing it just utterly drops).

Any Idea on how I can solve the problem?

Thanks

Follow the usual wireless troubleshooting steps of upgrading the routers firmware and the adapters drivers. Disable any encryption temporarily to see if that is causing problems. Put your laptop in the same room as the router to rule out range problems, change the wireless channel which can help with interference problems. It might be worth knocking the routers speeds back down to "G" levels, I'm not sure how well the draft-n specs will work on that particular router and card.

There's a few ideas off the top of my head, if none of that works then you can try my favourite method; flap your arms around and whip out the cat5 :D

There is a firmware and driver upgrade for this device as I have the same one.

Tis faulty. Had the same problem with a netgear I had years ago.

Tis faulty? ..... no just needs the firmware upgrade on the router and the driver update on the pcmcia device.

I had that problem :p
