I manage to scrounge an old mini pci wireless card for my old laptop today and have put it in. I installed the drivers and tried to search for networks but none show up.. However, if I put the details of our wireless network in work in manually it connects fine and is currently connected at the moment!

Anyone got any ideas why the search for networks part doesn't work properly?

Cheers,
Andy

I think this is becasue the SSID (router id) is not being transmitted. This helps with security as you need the correct settings to get on network. This can be changed if you have access to the router settings.

Yeah ... its probably the ssid... if you know the ssid you can enter it manually or if you want to advertise your ssid then you will need to do so using your router settings page.

The router is working fine and other laptops in the office can see it and pick up the signal from the unit next door to us as well.. Mine just doesn't see any. :(
