Hi guys,

Trying to overcome an issue for one of my customers - they have a new tracking system which displays live info for their lone workers and their vehicle fleet. They have a new PC also which sits in the office hidden away under a desk - what I need to do ideally is have that PC wirelessly transmit a multimonitor setup to 2 x monitors on the wall of the office, I've seen a few things like the microsoft wireless display adapter but have read mixed reviews.

Can anyone recommend anything that would allow me a wireless multi monitor setup?

Cheers! :)

So, chasing VGA/HDMI cables throough walls and back to pc is a definite no no?
Ok then, latest Samsung and other brands of TV's/monitors have wifi direct (WiDi) which will allow you to link your pc to (as long as your pc supports WiDi too). The Microsoft wifi adaptor is basically for those screens that DO NOT have WiDi. I bought one last week for my Pany 47" and project my Surface Pro 4 onto it.
Had to refresh the search a couple of times to get the adaptor to show in my list on my SP4, but once done it worked fine.
Not sure how you'd accomplish projecting the same desktop wirelessy to 2 different screens though. Is it the same output on both screens or will both act as extended desktops?

Yeah I can't really do the cabling as the MD is a neatfreak with cables :P

It's going to be tricky I think cause I do need to support 2 x extended monitors, also if I were to build the PC from scratch, what component supports the Wi-Di? Is it the motherboard or is it a PCI card or something?

think your MD needs to get over it, you could install cable trunking if you can not go into the walls, i think you need to tell him the price difference between an X meter length cable Vs what you will spend going wireless, and taking into account you will have to keep replacing batteries on the receiver end?

Not my MD sorry :p one of my customers - he's very headstrong but frugal at the same time.. hmm

Well ideally I want to do what I normally do and give him a few options from most expensive to cheapest and see which he goes for, I can make more markup on expensive solutions so I don't mind speccing it up ;)

Batteries? What receiver?
WiDi is built-in tech for screens AND computers. The MS wireless adaptor plugs into the HDMI of the screen and the USB slot for power.
Having a continuous wifi connection to a screen is just as likely to cause issues too i think. You're bound to get drop-outs at random times throughout the day. How critical is it?
Have you already got the screens?
If not, might be worth getting a couple of Dell's (or similar) with mini-DP ports so you could maybe uplink one to the other and go wireless to one, and hoping that the DP uplink allows connection to the 2nd screen.
Worth investigating i think.
