Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a wireless PCI card for my new rig. I've recently moved house, and using my 30m LAN cable is no longer an option :( I've read that some people have had compatibility issues with their cards and W7, and was just wondering if you have any recommendations on which one I should buy?

My Spec:

•Intel Core i7 920 D0 2.66Ghz overclocked to 4Ghz
•Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
•Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz) Low Latency Tri-Channel
•Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366)
•Samsung SM2494HM 24" TFT LCD Monitor
•Asus ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
•Windows 7 RC Operating System
•Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
•Coolermaster ATCS 840 Classic Case – Black
•Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
•Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache – OEM
•Formac 320GB Portable USB Hard Drive
•Pioneer DVR-217FBK 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer LabelFlash ReWriter (Black) - OEM

I'm using a Belkin f5d7000 card with Windows 7 64bit. The belkin drivers don't work, HOWEVER a previous meddle with Linux let me know that there was a RT2500 chip in the card.

Their drivers, including windows 7 64bit ones, are here:

Windows won't auto-detect the driver works for the card, I had to manually tell it to use this driver. Working fine now; this post brought to you by that solution!

I concur - I've found Ralink to be very good with their drivers. Edimax seem to use them a lot and indeed all three of the Edimax PCI cards OcUK sell appear to be based on Ralink chipset, so while I have no experience with 64-bit Windows, I'd recommend those.
