Wireless PCI Card Vs. Adpater?

Hi all,

I have my Linksy router on order so just need to get a card or adapter now. But which would be best? Does a adpater operate at slower speeds (due to the interface)?

Also, as I am getting a 'speedbooster' cable router, is it worth getting the card/adapter with it enabled aswell?

Thanks

PCI cards are better then the dongles.....

Don't even bother with a dongle if you want to be sure it will work decently. Definately a PCI card with an aerial will most likely give you better results, and it will cost you the same price to.

Thanks for reply, will be taking the PCI route then :)

Also, do you know if the linksys 'speedbooster feature', is software or hardware i.e is it possible to gain the feature via some kind of update?

Thanks

i use two usb dongles and have never had reliability issues

i also find them handy for when a foreign computer your fixing needs network access. quick and easy..

one of the ones i have is a linksys one with speedbooster.... the other cost £10!

I prefer PCI too. I've got a Linksys WRT54G router and have used a Linksys USB adpater with it and it keeps getting disconnected. I also wasn't able to re-enable or repair the connection under "Network Connections". I had to consistently reboot to regain a connection. And ever since then - I've stuck with using a Linksys PCI card.

Thanks for replys,

I think I am gong to go with the PCI route for use in the PC I know will always need a net connection but also purchase a cheap USB dongle -As Robotica point about 'quick fixing foreign PC's which need a net connection' is something that will help me.

Please keep posting any advice though guys :)

Thanks

I have a USB > Ethernet adaptor for that, though wireless is proberly handy to.
