Is there a massive difference these days between installing a PCI Wireless Card, compared to just using a USB Dongle thingy? Are there improvments in connection speed and ease of use?

Many thanks

I know there is a Network Forum, but I didn't seem to provoke an answer for this question in there.

Im pretty sure that a pci card will give better range, of course depending on obstructions.

In my own experience i found the pci card to be far better for continued throughput at a contsant rate..

USB could be said to be easier to install but there aint much to either realy..

PCI all the way... :D

I've never had a problem with my USB dongle (Netgear WG111v2), it was easy to install etc etc.. but a PCI card is probably better if you gonna use it for gaming.

Does it require it's own power supply, via a PSU connection, or does it traditionally draw the power from the PCI slot itself?

Sorry if this question is a bit odd... I'm a noob to the whole PCI install business!

on some pci wireless cards you have to install the drivers first and then install the card.

Pablo, it is powered through the pci slot and does not require a seperate power connection.
