We have the BT Homenetwork 1250 router down stairs and i want to put this PC onto wireless as well because at the minute i have to ICS with the laptop.

Just wondering if i need to stick with a BT card or if any will do? I have seen the BT 1040 card which is 54mbs (same as router i believe) for £25 in the high street. Would this be ok?

1250 router is not 54g it uses older slower 11 mbs technology. It does however have home phone networking built in. If the room with the unnetworked computer has a phone extension you should use the adapters supplied with the router to link the computer to the router (or £5 from BT) for internet access.

If not any 54g card will do, £25 is a bit steep but could be worse

Is it the laptop or the desktop you are adding?

its the desktop one as the laptop already has a 1060pci wireless card in it. I just need something to run my pc now :)

I see the cards on ocuk are about £20 so by time ive paid p&p its bout the same

*edit*

just see the 1040 card for £13 on here so ill order that 1 :D
