Wireless printer and scanner?

I'm looking for a new printer / scanner and having found a wireless version on another website, the Samsung SCX-4500W Wireless 3 in 1 Mono Laser Printer, Copier and Scanner (only an example) wondered if they work exactly as I imagine?

Can I plug it in anywhere within range in my house and have it do my printing or scanning without it being near the PC (or PC's)? Reason I ask is that I have space constraits where I have my computers and it would be nice to be able to use it elsewhere.

i think because at my mums i have a hp wireless printer and it works from the laptop wich is anywhere around the home and the printer is stuck in a cupboard

My wireless Canon MP620 scans & prints very well via WiFi. I tend to scan at 200dpi so the pages aren't huge and I have experienced no problems..

I'm currently working my way through old newspaper cuttings for my website and scan higher, at say 600dpi. Would this have any effect?
