Hi All,

My boss has a DG834G 1 PC connected via RJ-45 and 2 laptops all running XP.

He wants to share his usb printer which is connected directly to his main machine, I explained he can do it just through Windows without much hassle.

He has asked about a printer server so he can have the machine off and still print. I'm having a nose and looking through the Netgear WGPS606 seems his best bet.

But I'd just like to confirm, he will connect the printer to it via USB then use a CAT-5 straight through to his DG834G? or the WGP606 can connect wirelessly to his router and share through that?

Can anyone help? I'm a little confused lol.

Thanks.

i have one of these. you need to set it up wired initially, then unplug the ethernet cable and it should work wirelessly. you need to set it with a static ip which is easy to do in the lan ip setup bit of the dg834g. this means that usb printer and print server only need to be in wireless range of the dg834g

however, if you want to avoid hassle and aggro when the printing doesn't work (i had to reboot the wireless print server daily) i suggest you ditch the wireless idea and go for an hp175x wired print server. rock solid, fairly easy to setup and cost me 38 quid from the bay. it plugs into the dg834g

easier still is a brother 2070n network mono laser - bought it last week for 95quid and works a treat over my home network including a linux pc (ubuntu7.10)
