Not sure if this is the right place but here goes, changing my desk top to a lap top, before i go and buy an wireless printer can you get something to make a wired printer wireless?

You can get what is known as a 'USB wireless printer adapter' starting at around the £30 mark so you need to figure out if it's worth buying one of these or just getting another printer with built in wireless.

Thanks phil, thought something was about, a wireless printer starts around £50 and i can get ink for mine at£15 for the two (black and colour) so guess best to keep mine and spend £30 on the adapter.
Thanks for the info

i was gonna go down that route , but in the end i got a brand new epson sx 515w, prints over lan and wireless.
inks worked out way cheaper too.

yeah but most routers have usb ports on them already, no?

Mine doesn't Stupot but it's an older model. Newer one's probably do have them but I would be interested to see if it works. The only way I think this could work would be if the printer had a network port built in which you could connect to the router. Can't see a USB connection working in this way. If it did then there would be no need to have network capable printer models on the market.

Our previous gen (white) bt homehub has 2 usb ports, im pretty sure i've had a couple of netgear routers with a usb port too.
