Wireless Problem

Hi guys.

Since last night I've had an odd problem with my desktop - random wireless connectivity. When connected, it frequently drops the connection. Sometimes, though, it won't even connect at all, other times it reports its connected but I have no connectivty. Right clicking properties shows the Router has not assigned an IP address.

Sometimes Windows tells me it isn't connected, and even has the not connected icon in the taskbar yet.... it is connected and the internet works. It's all very bizarre.

See here, it's telling me I'm not connected and that I am connected at the same time

It only started last night and it's been otherwise perfect. Every other machine in the house, also on wireless, still works perfectly. My laptop, put in the same place as my desktop, also works perfectly.

I've so far tried reinstalling the card and also swapping the card out with a known good card from another machine - didn't cure the problem.

Anyone got any ideas? From the way Windows reports the problems I think it may be a Windows issue rather than a problem with the wireless network.

Thanks!

It always amazes me in this particular area of the forums that if I posted LOL OMG VIRGIN SUX I CANT DOWNLOAD *** ILLEGAL FILEZZZZZ I'd get 6 pages of replies, yet technical queries, nobody knows.. :(

It's semi working now although it disconnects and reconnects every 5-10 minutes.

It's now just degenerated to disconnecting and immediatly reconnecting every 5-10 minutes or so. I'm using Linksys wireless cards and a Speedtouch 580i router. It also does it with the OEM software :(
