Wireless Problem

Hi all,

Got a weird problem here and it seems to be pretty random and hard to reproduce. I am assuming its something to do with me not setting stuff up/configuring it properly.

Basically I have two wireless routers, A Billion BiPac 7800N and a Netgear DGND3700v2.

Currently I have the 7800n setup as my main router and the netgear as an access point. They connect together through a managed switch.

Now initially I set it up so that they both used the same SSID and p/w etc so that I could roam between them. (used different channels, 1&13) The problem I had here was that some devices would only connect through the 7800n, some would only connect through the netgear and some would connect through both. Now when this was happening they were getting an IP address but just couldn't connect to the network/iinternet.

So as a fix i have at the moment I named the first network 'xxxx' (wifi from the 7800n) and the second 'xxxx 1' (wifi from the netgear) and then connected the ones that worked with only one of the connections to the ones that they work with.

However I have started having problems again. Some devices will not connect through the netgear at all. When connecting they don't receive and IP address, however if I assign a static IP they still can't connect. Now this seems to be completely random (for the static IPs). for example yesterday my phone was connecting fine through it but today it isn't. It sometimes connects but can't access anything or gets stuck on 'authenticating' (even though I know the password is definitely right.)

At the moment I have the 7800N configured to assign IP addresses and the netgear is in AP mode. The last problem I have is that when I have the netgear configured as 'xxxx 1' my wireless from my 7800N seems to decrease in range so much that you have to be withing ~ 2 metres of it for it to see the network.

Yeah bit of a weird one... attached below are screenshots of my current config.
