Hello,

I received a mail off my friend with a Mac wireless problem, but with me not being there and able to see it and not having this problem before I can't solve it really.

So, he is connecting to his home wireless network and airport is automatically changing over to BT Openzone after a few minutes. He needs to keep the BT details saved for when not at home on a secure connection. Changing the preference order isn't changing it. How can this be sorted?

Cheers :), But he needs to keep the BT info saved for when he is not at home and in a BT hot spot, but BT keeps becoming the preferred despite it's place in the list, when it shouldn't.

It's because he's either losing the signal from his home wifi connection or is never connecting to it and so the mac connects to the next preferred network, open zone.

I know it sounds silly but have you made sure that he's not doing something stupid, like having a static ip/defualt gateway set or that putting in the wrong WEP/WPA(2)?

Ask him to remove his home network from the wifi list and try reconnect, typing in his key again? ;)
