Ok here's the deal:

Our household has two desktop PC's without wifi and two laptops with wifi.

At the moment we only have one modem that we have to share between computers whenever we want to use the internet.

Bearing in mind that in the near future I intend to be using xbox live, what do I buy in order to make our lives easier? I assume I'll need a router with ethernet ports and a new modem, or a combination of the two and I'll also need to buy wireless pci cards for the desktops in order to make them compatible?

I'm with BT by the way. Will I need to buy a BT router/modem from their shop?

Thanks for any advice.

I forgot to say that I think the BT modem we are currently using doesnt have any ethernet ports. So I assume in order to use a router, I will need a new modem?

well you could get a router with out a built in modem and connect you modem to that router its cheaper but more hassle , or get a router with built in modem which its less hassle best option.

i would but a Zyxel Prestige wifi router over any other router because they build the best home network products. also remember if you do get a router try and get one that supports adsl +2

Why, whats adsl+2?

So if I buy a combined modem/router from anywhere, it should still work with my bt broadband?

and I'll need the pci cards for the desktops will I?
