Boss has got a wireless range problem in his house, both with the internet (Thomson O2 Wireless Box II, TG585 v7) and VOIP setup (Philips 841 which is LAN connected into the router for Skype, and connects via wireless to handsets).

Is there any way of boosting the range of both of these? I've seen wireless boosters floating about the net, but how do they work and would one solve the problem?

The Antenna on the Thomson box looks small from the images I found, a higher gain (8-10) may help. There are extenders available for wifi of course, mains wiring, cat5 and pure wireless vareities.

As for the handsets they'll probably be using DECT which operates on the 1.9GHz frequency, extenders are available for this. If your boss has deep pockets he can also buy an additional antenna for this repeater to go up to 1.5Km. Surely his house isn't that big.

I'm also interested in one of these.

Have a D-Link DIR-615 downstairs but the signal is very weak up in the loft where my brothers room is and would like to get a signal booster for the floor in-between.

Was wondering if its even worth getting a signal booster or just forking out for a better router?
