I would like to spread the signal of my router so I can use our sky+ hd box online, just wondering if wireless range extenders are any good?

I mean these things http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-067-TP are these as simple to use as they look and are they effective?

Can I also get a reccomendation for a decent pair of wireless range extenders? Got a big house so need two.

Thanks guys

Seems to get good reviews: TP-Link TL-WR702N Wireless N Nano Router/Range Extender

I ordered two yesterday, so I will let you know when they arrive :)

Tried about 3 different ones and all of them caused me issues. In the end got a couple powerline adaptors and just used another router I had as an access point on one end and connection has been very reliable.

There is a phone socket in the same room as the sky+ hd...

So all I need is a powerline router? Not a standard router as I believe this needs a PC to work?

The way powerline works is to share your connection over the existing power sockets. So you plug one in where your main router is and then connect to it via the ethernet. Then wherever you need an internet point you can plug it in there. You'll either need another router or an adaptor with built in wireless if you want to create a wireless network there. If you don't need/want another wireless point you could use the other adaptor to plug straight into your Sky HD box.

You can get powerline adaptors with built in sockets if you are short on sockets. You need to plug it into the main socket rather than into an extension lead.

Another bonus with the powerline adapters with the built in sockets is that they generally also filter the noise produced by whatever is plugged into them.

Exactly what I do, plug an extension lead into it so all my TV and comp are running through the powerline adaptor to minimise any interference.
