Hi folks,

I currently have a Belkin wired set up through out my house connecting to 3 pc's, but now i need to move one of the pc's into a shed at the bottom of the garden.
As a result, I am considering replacing the belkin router with a wireless one, but since i dont really know much about wireless networks i was hoping someone could advise me on which router and PCI wifi adapter to get. My budget is about £70.

The current cable modem and router is situated in a room at the front of the house, and i think this is where it will have to stay. I was hoping to keep the 2 pc's that are staying in the house connected via Ethernet to cut down on cost and to keep it all easy, while utilizing the wireless for the pc in the shed.

I dont think the shed is more that 120ft from the router, and ive looked at routers that are capable of broadcasting at this range, however i am always concerned as I dont know if the walls of the house will affect signal etc.

Ive been looking at the industrial looking linksys routers that are priced at about £35....are they any good?

The router will be used for internet gaming, downloading music and general Internet useage.

Regards

Matt

I currently use a LINKSYS WRT54G have had this for about 3 years now and its been constantly running for this length of time.

It does have a good range but you might want to consider the Linkysys range expander to go along with it.

I have been using the range expander to beef up signal and can vouch that I am able to get very good signals at about 50ft distance but have never tried going any further.

Its probably best to buy both units from somewhere like currys/pcworld (if your from UK) and then test it out. If it doesnt work get your money back and think again.

Don't slack in the cheap end componants if you can help it. Go for some N networking equipment.

Netgear/Linksys/Belkin N are all good.
