Wireless Repeaters (Netgear DG834)

Hello,

I have 2 netgear dg834's, one is in my living room and the other one is in my bedroom. I have setup wireless repeaters and all working. Problem is that my htpc which is in my living room is always connecting to the router in my bedroom so not getting a great signal and keeps dropping. Is there anyway I can setup the pc/router so it only joins the router in the living room?

I don't know if this will work, but can you give the two routers different SSID names, then you can specify which one the HTPC connects to?

Hope you don't mind me piggy backing this thread ocxp. I have a Netgear DG834n and want to just boost signal downstairs a bit. Speed isn't so much an issue but more stability for surfing and streaming music (video not likely at this stage). Do I need an extender, repeater or access point? Can anyone recommend one to go with the router I currently have please?

I'm pretty sure that the channel and SSID have to be the same for repeaters.

Are you sure that it is all working OK as it should always connect to the strongest signal. Maybe this guide will help;
