At the moment Im using a network cable to connect to the router, but now Im moving the pc somewhere else in my room and will have to use wireless or get a guy in to move my telephone socket.

Is wireless stable and as reliable as a network cable, if I get a good qual router and pci card? If so what equipment would you recommend.

I understand that wireless is much slower then cable so I will be wanting the fastest wireless router and card thats currently out at the moment.

Also would a pci adaptor fit and run ok in a pcie x16 slot?

Longer cat5 cable?

Powerline networking?

Ummm I could have a longer cable but, Im redecorating my room so I dont really want cables running across the room. Ive looked at a powerline plugs and they slower then if I went down the wireless adaptor and router route.

Im looking at these.........

So at the moment Im copying files at 10mb/s (10/100mbps)with the onboard realtek adaptor on my motherboard..So if I got that router in the link above, I will be able to copy files at 30mb/s?

Why not run a telephone line extension kit around the room to your new location. Telephone cable is massively thinner than cat5 and can be pinned to skirting boards easily. Would be cheaper than buying loads of new kit too.

Wireless will always be a poor connection compared with wired.
