hi

ive got a broadband connected pc in my home ive also got a linksys wireless router connected with it so that i can get internet on my laptop.

i would like to get a wireless connection to my gaming pc if i got one of these below would that work with my router ?

Linksys WUSB54GC Wireless-G USB Network Adapter

cheers

Why not get a PCI card such as the very good WMP54G? (remember don't install the cd software, manually detect drivers off the disc using windows and use windows WZC)

It will be a wiser choice especially on a gaming PC since a USB device like that normally causes higher latency and of course uses more CPU cycles than a dedicated PCI jobby.

BTW I have the WMP54G and it's been through 3 PC upgrades now and still works flawlessly :)

hi

thanks for the reply , to be honest im not going to use the pc for the internet a lot because i use my laptop for all that ,and i dont play that many games online anyway

i really only want the adapter for halflife 2 and too download important updates?

if you think the pci card would still be better how easy is it to install?

cheers

Well for your requirements I think either would be fine, the PCI card is very easy to install really

hi

ive got a linksys wireless router with speedbooster

if i got the pci card would it be better to get the one also with speedbooster or does it not matter?

alao my mobo is a gigabyte ds4 is that ok for it?

cheers

PCI cards will work with any motherboard

as for the speedboost thing. You dont have to have it, but you will find if you get the compatible speedbost card at your end, and a speedboost router, you get faster file transfer than with a normal one.

Possibly not by much though, so ifs its much more expensive dont bother.
