i am buyng new pc to go upstairs while having my existing one downstairs, so the router will be at the original and the wireless dongle upstairs, i am looking for it to be as cheap as possible yet reliable, i have a 1mb aol ocnnection, soon to be upgraded to 2mb.

i was looking at the D-Link DWL-922 but i have seen some bad reviews, its a cheap router so i might buy it. any suggestions on better? remember i need router + usb/pci connection, although pci is more expensive so prob not in my budget, im looking to spend no more than £45 if i can help it. any suggestions or views on the d link?

NOTE: i use the internet for gaming mainly.

Popular devices are the Netgear DG834G and Linksys WAG354G.
It's unlikely you'll get much other than generic dross for £45, especially including the wireless adapter.

Over and above that, I'd suggest searching.

Anyway I would say that, don't skimp on a router, people get problems with them daily. I got a good one as my first (BT Voyager 2110 - Really good!) and have had no problems at all with it. Make sure you listen to what Tolien has suggested :)

Edit: Forgot to mention, I was playing PES 5 against someone the other day and every 10 seconds it would stop and then start again. I asked him what was up and he said "probably my wireless" Considering you use the internet for gaming, don't skimp on a router :)
