Apologies for this thread but the lack of the search function has crippled me!

I'm looking for a decent router to serve a 3 storey house for less than £80.
Is their a particular model thats recommended?

Do the PCs already have wireless cards are are you buying them too? Ideally you need matching router and NICs - something like this router with this NIC, this USB adapter or this PC Card, all from the Netgear 'PN' range. Don't worry if any laptops have built-in wireless as they'll still work but with reduced range.

You should place the router on the middle floor for best coverage, if possible.

Thanks for that Snapshot.

How do the Netgear Powerline adaptors compare to a wireless connection? Does it keep the stability of a wired connection or is it simlilar to a wireless setup?

I'm a big fan of powerline networking in general - it can be a lot more expensive than wireless but is hassle free and rock solid stable.

I've never had much luck with wireless (in the consumer sector anyway) and pretty much demand top reliability from my network connections.

Powerline suits me well...

thw 2wire routers have the best range, the unlocked ones have an output of 400mw when set 10, ill be selling mine in the mm vv soon
