Hello, I'm looking for a little help.
I currently have a Netgear DG834GT which is upstairs connected to both my PCs my main line is downstairs so i originally had to run a line up to my study from the main point. This was fine for a while however now i have my TV and Xbox downstairs (and soon an HTPC) and I'm looking to get a better connection downstairs for them (I'm currently sending my internet from upstairs to downstairs using the xboxes wireless dongle)

The next part of the story:

I have recently changed my ISP (connection change should be finished on Monday) Today i got sent a free Thompson wireless adsl router and it got me thinking.
Would it be possible to connect both routers to the phone line so I'm getting strong signal downstairs and upstairs or would i have to remove one from the phone line and just use it as a router? or is this not possible?
Sorry if this is unclear.

thanks for any help.
Scott

You can't connect both routers to the phone line. Instead replace the phone extension to the study with an ethernet cable, assuming you can do that easily and situate the DG834GT downstairs. For the 2 PC's in your study either buy a separate switch or disable DHCP on the Thompson router and use that for switching duties (turn off the wireless while you're at it too).
