I'm on o2 LLU and have got fed up with the crapness of the o2 wireless router.

I've just picked up a netgear DG834Gv4 which I'm looking to drop into its place.
The trouble is despite me chaning the SSID and the WPA passkey to the same as the o2 router I can't connect to the netgear.

I've tried various combinations of the netgear settings but none of them seem to work :( The current passkey is 63 chars in length so I was hoping that by replicating it on the new router the iphone / ipod touch / wii / blackberry / netgear wireless print server / laptops etc would all happily carry on and need no further configuration.

Can you gurus cast your eyes over and point out the errors of my way? (Does the fact that the wireless channel has changed made a difference? I didn't think it would hence haven't changed it to match)

Windows complains that the wireless details don't match when I try and connect up to the wireless network again.

You changed the router's WAN MAC address (i.e. the ADSL modem's, not that you need to do it at all but ho hum), not the wireless access point's.

Ooops sorry if I got my terminology wrong! :)

So is the upshot it won't work because of the MAC address?

If so what should I do to get the router up and running, just start again with a new SSID, password etc?
