Not often it happens, but there are times I post something serious!
Right, this Wii malarky. Been talking about it at work when someone posed a question about how it connects to the TV, the sensor bar, VGA, and all that when a question of sound was raised.
Now at the moment, I have as my amp a Cambridge Soundworks DTT3500. It's about 5 years old, cost me an arm and a leg a few years ago (was one of the first buys from OcUK actually) and is serving me damn good.
It has 3 inputs. Digital DIN (from a Soundblaster card), Optical In or SPDIF.
My PC is connected via it's SPDIF out to the SPDIF in on the amp, and the 360 sends it's sound via optical to the Optical In on the amp.
No probs there.
On an evening, I can listen to surround sound via a pair of Medusa headphones which send the sound from the PC and the 360 without any issues at all.
Now, when I get the Wii, let's assume I get the component cable and one of these progressive component to VGA adapters (thanks Energise for the email btw).
Playing the 'graphics' on the monitor shouldn't be any issue, but what about sound?
I'm not gonna post a link because it "MAY" be a competitor (does posting DIRECT to the manufacturer class as a competitor?) but needless to say there's a well known peripheral company that OcUK sell a lot of their products that currently have a pair of MP3 Wireless Headphones.
These headphones come with a bluetooth receiver that plugs into an MP3 player and I was thinking if the following may work...
Get one of these...
Which will connect the Wii's composite cables L + R sound channels into 1.
And one of these
To connect the wireless transmitter and doobery-whatsit above together and voila, the Wii's sound is able to transmit wirelessly thus a "Wireless" environment of sound and control is ensured.
This 'should' also work with the 360 and PS3.
Anyone know of a better method or any foreseeable problems?
