Afternoon. We have just moved into a new home and the central heating has been a PITA to get right. I have somewhat managed to get to grips with the current setup ( Flexicom 30cx Combi and a Salus RT500RF wireless thermostat) but the Mrs is having none of it an I see her point it is awkward to set the timers.

Can anyone recommend a different Wireless Thermostat that will work with the current Boiler. I dont mind fitting everything myself and Im looking at a budget of between £50/£100

Thanks

Yep get a Nest v2 then. The programming interface is excellent.

If you don't want a smart thermostat, I like the Honeywell CM927, but it's more than the Nest!

So the Nest 2 works with a combi. Would I need a receiver also or would it work with my current Salus Receiver?

Just removed my wireless setup for the heating as i think you need a degree to use it!!!

I fitted (with help of electrician nephew) a controller made by the boiler manufacturer that slots into the boiler! So easy to use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Nest has it's own receiver (HeatLink). This connects to the boiler, the actual Nest Thermostat connects to it wirelessly. The Nest will need to be plugged in power supply though if it's to operate in this way.

The Heatlink is capable of powering the Thermostat via a two-core power cable but you'd need to run a cable to the location of the thermostat if one isn't present.

Do you need hot water control? If not you can get a Nest v2 for < £100.

I've not seen any Nest devices anywhere near that price (other than the smoke detector :p). Would be interested if they're still available as our WiFi "smart" thermostat is starting to get on my nerves. Damned thing fires up the heating whenever it wants, doesn't fire it up when you want, and generally is the buggiest POS ever.

Ahhh I am thinking about getting two of these and I also have a combi boiler....I guess V2 will be fine and I can save some cash in that case?

Or go with the latest just because new and shiny?

eBay. Screw Fix was doing the v2 cheap too.

I know that. The bids are all near the £100 mark now with days to go

No patience? You only have to click 'completed listings' to get an idea of what they typically sell for.

Chances are the prices are going up due to demand now the temperature has dropped.
