I bought a Lenovo s9e today and I'm having trouble connecting to my wireless router.
I have a bebox which works for everyone else in my house and my laptop picks it up but when i connect to it it just says "acquiring network address" for ages and in the end just doesn't connect. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything wrong with the wireless card because it picks up loads of wireless networks so there must be something wrong with my settings but I don't know what...
anyone have any experience with this issue?
it's windows xp and I'm using the standard windows wireless connection programme.

any help would be great because it is after all a netbook but I can't use the net on it :-(

I had a similar problem with an old Dell Inspiron 6000 machine. If I used the 'at the time' latest drivers, it refused to connect to my wireless network. It would just sit there aquiring an IP, dropping the connection, then trying again, over and over. If I reverted back to the driver version previous to the latest release, it worked perfectly .

Never ever found the reason why the latest drivers didn't work, but just as a thought, have you tried different or the latest driver release for the wireless adapter?

I did try downloading the latest driver for it, it didn't change anything. I also, installed an older one from 2008 but that didn't work either..
I tried changing the settings on the internet protocol (TCP/IP) and told it to use an IP that I specified, after i did that it would say that it had connected to the bebox but would disconnect a few moments later.

Mic, it will not let me on at all, it just says acquiring network address and never gets past it.
I can however connect to "BTopenzone" which the xp wireless client calls an unsecured wireless network. I would just use that if it didn't want me to pay but I'd rather use the broadband that I have already paid for.

there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info regarding this particular problem on google, or perhaps I'm just not thorough enough..

anyone else got any ideas?
I've looked around a fair few places to find the answer for this and have had no luck. I don't even know how to contact lenovo by email as it's totally unclear on their website.

never mind, problem is sorted out. The wireless client was too stupid to figure out what kind of encryption my router was using so everything had to be specified exactly and the settings had to be changed in the router menu. btw, if you ever think about getting broadband from bethere you might want to consider the fact that the router menu is absolute garbage.
