Without Airplay I think a wired solution would be easier.

If wired then simply get the hdmi adaptor cable. I use my apple TV as it's much more convenient but I do carry the adaptor with me if I'm off somewhere without.

Believe XBMC supports AirPlay, but don't quote me on that.
