wireless worries

ive recently got a netgear wireless setup with 108mb usb dongle in the setup wizard it says 36mb wer as b4 it was 54mb *** is this for ?
im a noobie to wireless

and is the usb dongle meant to flash on off ?

Your speed will fluctuate depending on the signal strength and yes it should flash to indicate network activity across the device.
