I did mess around a bit with my wired 360 headset before the pitiful cable broke, but I wasn't sold. I couldn't seem to get the usual "mic boost" feature in windows to appear, so it was fine on vent/ts, but when the bullets started to fly it was like a fart in a wind-tunnel.

I've got the wireless receiver now, and was thinking about killing two birds with one stone.

I tried this over in the Console forum, but no dice.

Nope, it's rubbish :(

Tried it out a while back, nobody on vent could hear me properly, and it would run out of power really quickly.

I dont believe there are any "exceptional" wireless gaming ones.

Maybe try a decent Bluetooth headset if you have a bluetooth adapter?

Noise cancellation is important.

I would recommend the PS3 one but they have disabled noise cancellation if not connected to a PS3 I believe.

I do have a bluetooth usb dongle thing kicking around, it never occurred to me to go that route. I'll have a look into it.

Is it really worth it for pc gaming when the quality would be infinitely better from any normal pc gaming headset/mic combo?

I disagree, it works fine once your set the level properly and the battery lasts for around 8 hours from fully charged.

Noise cancellation can be an issue, if you like to shake the walls with your speakers its not the right solution but I use it all the time for all my mic needs on the PC.

logitech clearchat wireless headset.

i got one of these and its very good, the battery lasts about 8/9 hours and only takes 30mins to recharge

By setting the levels, you mean that it is adjustable in windows like a normal mic? the missing mic boost option was the killer on the wired one. About the noise cancellation, it's definitely a plus and after reading about some of noise cancellation you get on the more expensive bluetooth headsets, I am looking for something quite good. I may just get one of these for the xbox anyway, and keep looking into something just for old pc.
