I'd appreciate some clarification on what I need to buy to get a wireless network up and running at home.

My current setup includes:

Alcatel Speedtouch 510 v4 router
Desktop PC (need a wireless card)
Laptop (with a wireless adapter)

As I have a router up and running already and don't really want to replace it (was expensive when I bought it), can I buy something that connects to the Speedtouch router which gives out the wireless frequency?

Thanks.

You can buy just an access point (or put another wireless router into access point mode).

You will then just need to either leave the desktop cabled or get a wireless PCI card for that.

Which speed of wireless you go for depends on what you are planning to do between the machines. N is expensive but if you stream stuff from your desktop PC to your laptop then its worth it for the speed increase. If not, G will do :) (It is worth noting that unless your Laptop is very new and expensive, you will have a G card built in).
