hi all,

I have an XP machine which is connected via USB to my cable modem, and I'd like to set up an Ad-hoc network sharing the internet connection using the wireless NIC on it.

The client which connects to the XP box is on Windows 2k and is connecting via its own Wireless NIC.

I've tried running the Home Networking Wizard on the XP box and it tells me to reboot at the end, which i do, then when it comes back up it is just as before, no wireless network appears on the Windows 2000 wireless network list.

If it helps i'm using Intel PROSet Wireless software.

Any help appreciated! I've never shared an internet connection before!

Sorry, the Intel wireless card is in the 2k client, the wireless card in the host/server is another make.

Are you saying i'd have to configure that to be an access point? if so how do i do that in Win XP please?

It should have its own utility, have a look at the options available. Can't offer any more advice without knowing the model.

Its a Intel 2200BG, I'm just using Windows XP's built in Wireless Networking software, do you know how to turn it into an access point from that please?

Can't do it like that. You need to use the Intel utility.
