I work in a small office and we need internet access in a room to the rear of the building.

I have located the master socket to which the router is connected to. This master socket looks like an LJ 4/1A type socket rather than the standard NTE5.

If i open up the socket on circuit 1 the blue/white and white/blue are wired into plugs 2 & 5 and on circuit 2 orange/white and white/orange into plugs 2 & 5 again.

Ive wired into a NTE5 socket before and had no problems but i dont know how to wire into this type of socket.

Im using cat5e cable.

Any help would be much appreciated as to how to wire into the socket.

Thanks

You shouldn't be messing with the phone wiring to do this for a start.

Are you wanting to get access in the other room as well as where it is now?

Does the router have wireless?

So you need hard wired ethernet into the other room?

To do that you'll need to run Cat5 from the router to the other room and connect it to a switch with the appropriate number of ports. Depending on the electrics in the building you might be able to get away with Powerline adapters but a Cat5 run is the better option.
