So i purhased a crimping kit from ebay last week, nothing expense. the kit came wih 30m cat6e and i need to make up a cable.

The cable colours from what i see our:

dark blue
light blue
green
light green
red
white
purple
pink.

i thought wiring the same either end would work but it hasn't. unless i made a mistake.

any advice

That's maybe not proper approved Category cable then. As far as I know all 4 pair Category cables all conform to the same colour designations and for good reason.

Does it actually say Cat6 or Category 6 on the cable anywhere?

Category6 only come in 6 and 6A flavours. Not really sure where 6E comes from. Maybe it's just marketing.

In the case of your non-category cable you will have to establish which are the cable pairs. Strip back a fair bit of cable and note which pairs are twisted together and wire up accordingly. If it's twisted to Category cable spec they'll be twisted pretty heavily. In addition each pair will have a slightly different pitch.

If your cable has no twisting, and it should be around 1cm per turn, then find the nearest bin and throw it in there and get proper cable.

Yea it says it on the cable. I only paid a tenner so i wasnt expecting anything fancy. The crimpers and other little tools were worth £10 with out the cable. I just need to make up a 5m straight cable though. I was expecting the normal of orange, orange/white, etc etc but that leads me to my post...Strange.
