oh I do like to be beside the seaside
I'm got the task of getting my folks up on the net while I'm up here.
Got a question on how to setup the wires for the wireless router.

Scenario is this.
Got phone socket (Point A) and where they want the router to go (Point B).
It's about a 2 metre run between A & B.

The options are :-

1. Run a normal phone line from the A to B and then connect the filter at that point, so the RJ11 cable would be right next to the router.

or

2. Put the filter straight into the wall socket and then run a RJ11 cable the 2m to B.

Are there advantages of doing it one way or the other?

Cheers.

With such a short distance it's not really going to matter. Do whatever's easiest. Option 2 makes more sense to me.

I have a similar setup for my ADSL - my router is located around 2 metres away from my master socket. I just have the filter plugged into the master socket and a cable running directly from there.
